"Ra - petunia"

I don't know why, but our boys have always called the movie "Ratatouille" --Ra - petunia. (Maybe I've trained them very well to think of flowers at all times) Now that all of our meals people have provided us (thank you everybody who has fed us this last week!) have run out, Trevor and I are back to cooking. He is my little chef. He loves to cook, but refuses to eat what he cooks! He won't eat much unless it is plain--plain whatever. Which is great when it comes to fruits and veggies. He is the first to eat these...as long as there is nothing on them. We are working on him, and little by little I feel we are making progress. He will now eat some desserts that have multiple ingredients. I figure that is a start.

Things that make us smile

In an effort to get this blog a bit more uplifting, I took some pictures of things that make us laugh and smile

--Karmin loves riding Nana and Papa's scooter. She looks so small and she goes so fast it is very entertaining.

--Trevor somehow convinced Grant that he should have a fudgesicle for breakfast yesterday and Karmin was more than willing to join in on the fun.

--We love watching "Monk" and it was something that we spent time with Grant's parents laughing about this last year. Grant was pleased to find out that Sierra Springs is really water that they sell so he had to buy some. So we got a good laugh of thinking of Mr. Monk--and it reminding us of Grant's parents.

--The last picture is of Ben with Nana and Papa at dinner. We went out with them two nights before they left and Ben lost ANOTHER tooth. He really doesn't have many left--I think Karmin has more than him. So I've been getting a kick out of hearing him try to talk--and all of us trying to understand what he has to say.

Into my heart

We've had a long week, but we are forever changed because of it. When I was 8 weeks pregnant, I found out that I had miscarried. We are doing okay, but just wanted to let people know. I wrote the following in my journal:

My heart aches for the baby I will never see in this life, and my arms ache for the baby I don’t get to hold. This baby will always be in my heart though. This experience has forever changed me. I appreciate my kids more, I enjoy their hugs more. I feel just to touch them is such a miracle and a blessing. I am forever changed by this baby.

Thursday night I asked Grant to give me a Priesthood blessing because I couldn’t stop crying. My heart ached for my baby, and I didn’t think that life would ever be the same, but the Lord has helped me find some peace. In the last three days the sun has come out, my kids have laughed, and my husband has held me. I don’t think life will ever be quite the same. I will look at things differently because of my baby, but life will go on—it does go on. There is joy in life and I have so much to be thankful for and so many things to enjoy. It is still hard, but each day gets a bit easier.

Last Day of School

Ben had his last day of Kindergarten yesterday. I didn't realize how hard it was going to be for him. After I picked him up yesterday, he spent the rest of the day in and out of tears. It didn't occur to me until then that he won't see these friends for several years. We put him into Otis this year since we thought we would be moving there mid-year. However, that didn't work out, so now we are putting him back over into this school district for the next few years. He misses his friends and he misses his teacher. I really enjoyed Otis, and will miss it myself. It was a smaller school and so it seemed like a very intimate environment. His teacher was great. I think she was so good for Ben, and I think we will all miss her influence.

Staying In Touch

I've been wanting to start a blog since early this year, but haven't gotten around to it. Since Grant's parents are going to be leaving on their mission soon, I thought this would be one more way to stay in touch with them. And as Grant has confined me to the couch for today, I thought this would be my golden opportunity to set this up while I have him babysitting!
We got a huge surprise on Grant's Birthday--(just a few days after getting rid of all of our baby things) I found out that I am expecting a baby! Everybody since then has told us that you never get rid of ALL of your baby things because that is just asking for trouble. We are thankful for this soon-to-be new addition and can't wait until January. The reason for being done after Number 3 was that pregnancies are too hard (on all of us). So after 4 calls to the doctor, 3 bottles of prescriptions, 2 Liters of IV fluid, and 1 hospital visit---I think I am on the up-and-up!! I still feel pretty weak, but Grant has been so good to me. Although this has started off as the worst pregnancy, I think with the Rx it just might be the best one.
