Zipping By

We just went on the coolest double date ever. It was perfect! Todd and Heather invited us to go on a zip tour with them. A family at our church created this zip tour last year and this is the first time that we have gotten to go. Time flew by. I'm not a fan of heights, but this really didn't bother me at all. There were 7 lines in all. The longest one put us 500 feet above the tree tops. The views were stunning, the company was a delight, and the activity was thrilling.

River Fun

Grant's parents got this great new toy for the river house. This floating dock is the coolest thing ever! I was laughing so hard. It is hard to fall off, so it's great for the little kids, but it is nearly impossible to stand upright if you weigh more than 50 pounds. When all the kids were on it and Grant and I were too, it was impossible not to laugh. I felt like we were participants on Wipe Out. So. Much. Fun!

Ben was letting Lucy listen to his music with him.

Berry Picking

One of Grant's co-workers told him that the huckleberries are ready to be picked. So we decided, on the spur of the moment, to get a babysitter and go huckleberry picking. This was the best date! I loved the drive to the mountain. I loved talking to Grant. I loved spending so much uninterrupted time with him. I loved hanging out with him. It was just so much fun. It was like we got a little vacation. I hope that we can do this every year!

Cabin in the Woods

The weather has not been all that great this summer. So it was no surprise that the day we decided to go to the cabin was a bit windy and a bit chilly. We still had fun though.
Lucy would have been perfectly content being in this swing all day long:

It just looks cold! But it's beautiful even when it is raining:

The girls and I went in the paddle boat;

While we were away, the sun came out:

It was a fun day:

I think the highlight was seeing my Uncle Lloyd. He was visiting from California. He is a wonderful man, and filled a big void in my life.

Lucy was enamored with him.

To Pass the Time

Today we had a LONG wait at the doctors for 2 well-child check-ups. It was not very exciting in that room, so we decided to take selfies of us making faces. And now you get to enjoy them as well:
Mad face
Surprised face
Happy Face
So sad face
Silly face

Where's Waldo, err...Piper?

Piper has always loved to sleep in confined spaces. In a doll crib, a box---if it is small she sleeps there. Well today she got to go to the store and use her gift card that she got for her Birthday. She has always wanted an umbrella. And so it was no surprise that she slept underneath it.

Father-Son Outing

Trevor and Grant went to a work event for Grant's work. Because parking was limited, they rode their bikes in. They had a lot of fun together!

MMM, Good

Tonight we had a church party at the park. Piper was one of the first people through the line. I came to check on her and found that this was the dinner she got:

A doughnut and lemonade. Well-balanced meal if I do say so myself.

Prep

I love taking this:

And turning it into this:

This picture makes me think that if it started to snow right now, somehow it would all be okay.

4th of July

Today Grant and I decided that it would be fun to go on a bike ride before we went out to his parent's house. Trevor decided to come along too.

It was a lot of fun. Next we headed out to Grant's parent's river house. It is always fun out there. The kids loved swimming with their cousins.

It's her Birthday!

Lydia is 7 today! Whoa Hoo!

She wanted crepes for breakfast, macaroni and cheese for lunch, and Texas Roadhouse for dinner (with Nana and Papa of course). It has been her dream to be in the saddle!

Lydia has grown up so much over this last year. She is so much calmer. She is constantly thinking and observing--you can just see the wheels spinning in her head. Her favorite thing to do is go to school. She adored her teacher this last year, and the feeling was mutual from her teacher. She can't wait for school to start again. Karmin and Lydia are constantly together playing, talking, and giggling. She doesn't know what she wants to be when she grows up. Her favorite color is turquoise. Her favorite food is pineapple pizza. She is smart, and fun to be with. Even though she is calmer, she still has her spunk and we adore this 7 year old.
