Pumpkins

We didn't get around to decorating for Halloween this year, so Grant and I made a point to make sure that we at least carved pumpkins. Karmin had no trouble digging right in and getting everything out, but the other kids weren't so excited about it. But they did it, and it was fun. The pumpkins turned out perfect. And they matched our kids' personalities.

Fishing with cousins

Papa was kind and took Grant, DeWayne and the 4 boys fishing one last time before he had to pull the boat out of the water.

Field Trip

We got to go to a wheat farm for a field trip today. We got to find out start to finish how wheat starts to how it ends up in our bread. The kids enjoyed being up in the tractors, and Piper enjoyed all the rocks that they had around. She likes to collect rocks, so she spent most of the time putting rocks in my pockets (but it kept her busy). It was fun to do something a little bit different for school today.

Karmin's Baptism

The day finally came that Karmin got to get baptized! She was so excited, she couldn't stand it! We found a dress on-line that was perfectly Karmin. It was pretty and simple and elegant--not too flashy or frilly. During the baptism program, they had a parent come up and tell about their child who was getting baptized. I told how Karmin was named after a G-G Grandma who I had the privilege of reading some of her letters that she wrote to her daughter before she passed away. Even though her health was waning, she was a happy person and saw the good in the world. And it fits that we named Karmin after her because that is the best word to describe her--happy!  She is the perfect child to have as a transition from all boys to all girls. She loves dirt and is a hard worker. She doesn't like to wear shoes (which has resulted in a lot of lost shoes). But she still likes girly things. She loves animals, and has such a tender-heart towards them. She loves to read her scriptures and is a good example to all of us on her love and devotion to her scriptures. We love having her in our family!
After a short talk on baptism and then the Holy Ghost, we went and saw her get baptized. The water was pretty hot, but she was still excited and happy about it. I'm thankful for her choice to get baptized and her love for the Gospel.

Last, But Not Least....

Today we found out what the gender of our baby is. If we had a boy, then we would have been even. But the girls pulled out for the win in our family. Our last baby is a girl and due February 17th. We are beyond thrilled to welcome this little one. We have waited a while to welcome this last member of our family, so February can't come soon enough!
