TKD

Trevor had his Taekwondo test last week. He knew all the stuff and has for a few months (he was suppose to take the test 2 other times already). But the test came, and with it came nerves. I think that now that he knows what to expect, the next test will be better for him. He did great though. He sure looks cute in his new belt and he can sure kick!

Last Game

Ben's last game was tonight. He has loved his basketball experience, and can't wait to play again next year. He has appreciated those that have come to watch and support him as well. It is kind of sad that it is over. When Grant would take the boys to practice, often he would come home with some pizza that we would get to eat since the girls were in bed. That was fun. I love spending the time with the kids and cheering for Ben (more on that in a minute). I enjoyed racing with the kids after the game across the court. It was fun to see Grant's personality come out more and more in Ben. They could be twins.
However, with it being over, it means that Grant will have a voice on Friday nights and Saturdays. He loved "cheering" so much that he would usually lose his voice. So that will be a plus.

During the half time, Trevor and I were picked to participate in the half-time game. Each week they would do a game that involved the audience. We had to go out (yes, had to---wouldn't have chosen to be picked) on the court with 7 other people. We passed a balloon over our heads, and under our legs to the person behind us. When we were the last person in the line, we would have to run over to a chair, sit on the balloon, and pop it. Then run back to the front of the line, and start over. I'm sure you all know how much I loved popping that balloon. It was great. Trevor was in line to pop the balloon after me. I overheard one of the refs say that Trev would probably just bounce off the balloon because he is so small. He was all over it though, and popped it on his first try. Everybody cheered for him because they were so impressed. Even after all that awesome popping, we came in second. In the end, it was fun to do that with Trev.

We will miss basketball. And now we will have a break until baseball...

One Cool Girl

Preschool was at our house today. Lydia was dressed up and ready to learn. I'm sure a lot of critical thinking could be done behind those glasses.

Ben was fouled so he got to make 2 free throw shots. He made one of them, and the score ended up being 20-20. Had he not made the shot....well you get the idea.

Arctic Research

In third grade, the kids do a unit study on arctic animals. They usually pair up with a partner who researches the same animal. They are able to research together and put together a presentation. At school, the kids started this unit while we were in Hawaii, so Trevor was by himself on this project. He researched the arctic wolf. I took the girls with me to go see him do his presentation. Karmin and Lydia love it, but it is always a stressful event for me. The girls walk around from desk to desk, having the kids talk to them about their animal. There are always so many people in the room, I have a hard time keeping track of my own kids let alone listening to the presentations. I always just have to trust that the teacher must understand to watch for my kids by the door to make sure they don't leave. I'm sure he knows that he is suppose to watch my kids...

Trevor did a great job. His desk and posters looked pretty cool. He didn't even mind letting Piper feel like a big kid by sitting next to him. Next they will be studying about American Indians, and each child gets an American Indian name. Trev's teacher already chose his...Lone Wolf... reminiscent of this project.
